Photo-Induced Orientation of Nematic Liquid Crystals in Microcapillaries

Axial and transversal orientational configurations of a nematic liquid crystal 6CHBT are realized insideglassy cylindrical capillaries by using photoalignment technique. It is demonstrated that this principle can beeffectivelyusedtoenforceliquidcrystalalignmentinthedesirabledirection.
