Throughput Analysis of IEEE 802.11 WLANs in Non-Saturated Conditions

This paper presents a bidimensional Markovain chain model to evaluate the throughput of IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs in non-saturation conditions. The impact of non-saturation degree on the throughput of both basic and RTS/CTS access mechanisms are analyzed and compared. It’s shown the throughput of basic access scheme will be significantly affected by non-saturation degree.
