Outage Analysis of Cooperative Communication Network with Hardware Impairments

Abstract The hardware impairments of physical transceivers that create distortions degrade the performance of communication. In this paper, we investigate the impact of hardware impairments on the outage performance of dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative networks with partial relay selection. Specifically, the approximated closed-form and asymptotic expressions for the outage probability of dual-hop AF relaying networks with hardware impairments are derived over Rayleigh fading channel, which provides a fast and efficient means to evaluate the impact of hardware impairments on the system performance. In addition, simulation results and intuitive discussions are provided to show the correctness of the analytical results. The finding of this paper suggests that the outage error floor exists when the hardware impairment exists.
