A rheological model for uncalcified parallel-fibred collagenous tissue.

Abstract The mechanical properties of ligamentous tissue are described in a mechanical model consisting of idealized elements, the properties of which are discussed together with their mathematical equations. The model consists of two parts, one of which accounts for an initial building-up process. This method suggests a possibility for linking morphological structure and mechanical behavior although further research on the parameters of the model is required.
