Linking Technology and New Product Development

This study explores the linkage between technology development and new product development (NPD). Literature suggests that there is gap between technology development and product development. We develop a set of propositions through review of previous research and a case study from the semiconductor industry. We conclude that for successful integration of technologies into products, a formal technology integration process and technology portfolio management are highly recommended to prevent a misalignment between technology development and product development processes.
