A radio frequency signal of wireless LAN at 2.4 and 5 GHz is transmitted over multimode fibre using vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) and photodiodes. This helps to realise a low-cost distributed antenna system for both indoor and outdoor applications.
