A Technique to Identify the Types of Partial Discharges

Partial discharge (PD) measurement is a sensitive method for insulation condition monitoring of high-voltage power equipment. Based on an analysis of the pulse sequence, a method for the identification of PD sources is proposed. Individual pulses extracted from the sequences and analyzed using cross-correlation technique indicate that the identification of PD types can be achieved even under conditions of multiple discharge sources.
