EVALUATION OF THE WAVE-RESISTANCE GREEN FUNCTION, PART 1: THE DOUBLE INTEGRAL

This work studies the double integral component that represents the local, nonradiating symmetric portion of the steady, translating, free-surface source potential. After developing systematic expansions for the singular component of this function at the origin and its asymptotic expansion in the opposite extreme of large distance from the origin, polynomial approximations are developed that enable the double integral to be evaluated in a simple and computationally efficient manner. Two alternative forms for these approximations are presented.
