Performances and solutions of redundancy allocation using SUMT and SLUMT techniques

Abstract In this paper we present how the start solutions can influence the performances of the techniques SUMT and SLUMT, used for redundancy allocation. The start solutions, generated through four heuristic methods, will influence the performances of the mentioned nonlinear programming techniques, whether or not they are close to the boundary of the feasible region. In the end a modified form of algorithm of Lawler and Bell has been used for generating the integer solutions. Examples have been included to illustrate the method.
