In recent years, many automotive companies have been striving to reduce costs and shorten new vehicle development cycle time. To develop a new vehicle costs a tremendous amount. So currently reliable simulation method is an attractive alternative to reduce real vehicle tests and development cost. This paper deals with the equation of motion and simulation method for vehicle system level especially focused on abuse load of manual transmission. It is can be carried out by the dynamic 1-D model based on MATLAB-Simulink. To get the abuse load on specific driving condition, the most important thing is the simplification of vehicle components and motion. Because the more complex model, the more input parameters requested. Unexpected abuse load which frequently comes from unintended driver’s clutch operations is very important to reflect the proper safety factor for powertrain driveline parts on design and development stage. And this simulation method also allows to catch very small effects came by parts modification or weight changes without real vehicle tests. So the method can be used for abuse load simulation during the vehicle development stage across the board.
