Approximate relationships between conformational parameters in 5- and 6-membered rings

Abstract The degree of non-planarity of a 5-membered ring can be estimated fairly accurately from a knowledge of the bond angles or torsion angles. The same is true for certain commonly occurring types of 6-membered rings. Some approximate formulae are given with numerical tests of then range of applicability.
