Appaturus and method for hybrid arq memory control in broadband wireless access communication systemem

An apparatus and a method for controlling a hybrid ARQ(Automatic Repeat reQuest) memory in a broadband wireless access system are provided to reduce a size and power consumption of an integrated circuit by embedding a memory inside the integrated circuit. An apparatus for controlling a hybrid ARQ(Automatic Repeat reQuest) memory in a broadband wireless access system includes a hybrid ARQ combination unit(220). The apparatus divides a whole memory region by a slot unit of a concatenation block size. A plurality of channel data which are inputted and outputted to the memory are inputted and outputted to the slot by the concatenation block unit. A new concatenation block is stored in an empty slot. In case that a re-transmitted concatenation block is stored, a pre-stored concatenation block and the re-transmitted concatenation block are combined, and the combined concatenation block is stored in a pre-stored location.
