Capability and Cost Analysis of Mini-PACS Construction for 320-row CT

【Objective】 To construct a storage system with high capability and low cost, that can save the huge amount of volume data produced by 320-row CT.【Methods】 A mini-PACS sever was built with a 1.5 TB hard drive and free PACS sever software.Network flow detection software was used to detect the mean net speed of the mini-PACS.Twelve random sample full liver organ 320-row CT perfusion volume data were used to storage by mini-PACS, and the seconds used were compared with those of full-PACS and burning DVD.Finally, the cost of mini-PACS was calculated.【Results】 The mean net speed of mini-PACS was 5940 Kbps at rush hour.The seconds used by mini-PACS, full-PACS and burning DVD were 823.8 ± 17.9 s、833.1 ± 10.2 s and 1541 ± 37.1 s.Significant differences were observed among all groups(P 0.05).The cost of mini-PACS was 1.91 Yuan per GB.【Conclusions】 Constructing mini-PACS in this way can solve the storage problem of volume data produced by 320-row CT.
