Some remarks on the elastic-plastic limit load analysis of a plane V-notched specimen

Abstract In most of the papers dealing with the elastic-plastic finite element analysis of notched tension specimens under conditions of plane stress, the calculated limit load is always higher than the maximum possible load. The present approach tries to determine one reason for this over-estimation and gives a simple formula to correct the limit load for special nets.
