Performance Analysis of Sequential Detection of Primary User Number Based on Multihypothesis Sequential Probability Ratio Test

In cognitive radio networks, a priori information on the number of primary users (PUs) is helpful to estimate more specific parameters, such as carrier frequency, direction of arrival, and location. We propose a sequential canonical correlation technique (S-CCT) method to estimate the number of active PUs quickly and accurately. The proposed method is based on the classical CCT and multi-hypothesis sequential probability ratio test. We also deduce the asymptotic expressions of average sample number and detection probability. Simulation results show that our proposed S-CCT method can achieve better performance with fewer samples than the CCT.
