Important elements of the PianoTutor are: (1) the use of score-following software to interpret studentperformances, (2) the use of extensive multimedia to create a natural dialogwith the student, (3) an expert system to analyze student mistakes and givepertinent multimedia feedback, and (4) the use of Instructional Design theory todevelop an extensive curriculum that can be tailored automatically to individualstudent needs.
