PID control with fuzzy compensation for hydroelectric generating unit

An intelligent fuzzy PID controller is presented for water turbine regulation in this paper. Fuzzy logic compensation (FLC) is designed and used to improve the performance of the conventional PID controller for hydroelectric generating units. Taking the static and dynamic performance of the system as the ultimate goal, it combines the fuzzy control theory with conventional PID control to form a novel self-improving controller. Simulation results show that the proposed control strategy has adaptability and robustness and its performance is satisfactory when applied to a hydroelectric generating unit.
