Voltage control strategy for maximum torque operation of an induction machine in the field weakening region

In this paper, a novel field weakening scheme for an induction machine using the voltage control strategy is presented. The proposed algorithm ensures production of maximum torque over the entire field weakening region without using the machine parameters. Also smooth transition into field weakening operation and excellent torque dynamic response during transient operation can also be obtained. Experimental results for a 3 hp laboratory induction motor drive system confirm the validity of the proposed control algorithm. The results are compared to the conventional field weakening method. It is verified that the proposed scheme can achieve increased torque capability over 20% than the conventional method.<<ETX>>
