Server operating environment for business continuance: framework for selection

Today's business tends to be continuous, resilient or 'always-on' with an emphasis on continuous, always-on and uninterruptible data and applications availability. The main prerequisite for such a kind of business is an integrated server operating platform which operates on 'always-on' basis or which is characterised by a high-availability ratio. Mission critical applications are installed on enterprise servers that are operated by server operating systems. Therefore, availability of such systems is of extreme importance for organisations that use such applications and implement them within the integrated application suites. The paper aims at providing a framework for selecting a server operating environment from business continuity (business resilience) perspective.
