Time-variant control design using adaptive identifying observer

An adaptive observer that can identify states and parameters simultaneously is developed for linear time-variant single input-single output systems with unknown parameters. State and parameters identification of a plant with unknown and time-varying parameters is investigated by modifying an adaptive observer, which is developed in this paper. From a computational and structural point of view, the modified structure appears simple enough for a practical realization. By using the approach of the modified structure, identifying adaptive observers of high order are constructed. Increasing the observer's dynamics allows both nonlinear parameter deviations and parameter dynamics to be estimated. Simulation results show promise for digital signal processing and control of time-variant system description, motion and processes monitoring and control, failure diagnosis systems, estimation and identifying of nonmeasurable states and parameters.
