Mechanical model of fracturing the cobalt crusts by cutter and water jet was established.With simulation study,the relationship between water jet system parameters and cutter's minimum cutting force was obtained,which was needed to generate initial crack on cobalt crust surface.Simulation results show that when the working point of both water jet and cutter isn't overlap,water jet can't decrease cutter's minimum cutting force.Conversely,it will increase cutter's minimum cutting force.When water jet working point is overlap with cutter working point,water jet can decrease cutter's minimum cutting force obviously.Compared with cutter cutting alone,when water jet pressure is 5 MPa,cutter's minimum cutting force is reduced by 50%.With water jet working pressure increasing,cutter's minimum cutting force is decreased correspondingly.
