ACTION PLAN AND ITS IMPLICATIONS TO PLANNING PRACTICEIN CHINA

Town planning often cannoteffectively directandcontrolurban developmentinChina, amain reason of which is the lack of careful studies on mar- ket demand and the lack of practical consideration aboutimplementationduring the preparationofplans. Itis grossly insufficientfor aplan to just focus on the ideals of spatial relationship. It is proposed in this paper that action plan be introduced to the Chinese town planning practice as an effort to improve the implementability of plans. Discussion is also pre- sented on the principles and methods of action plans.
