TRANSPORTATION AND GROWTH: MYTH AND FACT

This booklet examines some of the most popular transportation myths and offers facts in their stead in the hope that public debate can then be more sharply focused on the true problems and the most effective approaches available for communities to address those problems. Each community must determine the amount of traffic growth it will accommodate and whether it will do so by better managing roads and transit, by expanding facilities, by accepting some increase in congestion, or by using all of these methods. Resolutions must be made on whether to charge users enough to maintain facilities, to make improvements, or even to reduce demand.
