BitInterleaved Coded Modulation with Multi-LabeledSignalMapping

Inthis paper, wepropose multi-labeled signal map- pingasameanstoimprove theperformance ofbitinterleaved codedmodulation withiterative decoding (BICM-ID). Byusing aninnermappingthatassigns multiple codesymbols toeach signal point wecanimprove thedistance properties oftheBICM- IDsystem. Theuseofanouterblockcodewill compensate for thehigher information loss' thatthemulti-labeling inevitably entails. Hence, convergence atlowsignal-to-noise ratios (SNR's) will still bepossible. Theconsidered system isBICM-IDwith2 bits/symbol and8PSKsignaling. Simulation results areobtained fortheadditive whiteGaussian noise (AWGN)channel.
