Eye Localization Based on Face Alignment

Eye localization can be viewed as one of the most essential step in the eye tracking and fatigue driving detection. Differing from the traditional eye detection method using the Adaboost classifier, in this paper we propose a novel method based on the face alignment. By exploiting the 6 landmarks surrounding each eye, we can get the accurate eye region, excluding the glasses frames interference. Then eye localization is realized via calculating the center of gravity of iris based on searching the contours of iris. Our experimental results demonstrate that our method also achieve quite good performance in comparison with some proposed methods. What's more, our method can effectively address the problem of glasses frames interference.
