IntroductionIn this country, sudden loss of hearing due to an explosion, a blow on the ear or a head injury may lead to financial compensation either by the Government under the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1965 or as the result of an action under common law. On the other hand with cumulative noise-induced deafness compensation by the Government is at present limited to the ex-Serviceman in respect of such disability attributable to military service. The industrial worker with such deafness has recourse only to a common law action.
