The article explores the role of life-cycle in the management of labor. The author proves that understanding of life cycle phase on which the organization is and its features are the key points to the «harmonization» of labor management in a company. The paper discusses the approaches put forward by various researchers to solve the problem of identification of the life cycle's current stage in a company. The method of estimating life-cycle stages in organization based on the concept of I. Adizes and the principles of scaling inherent in the BARS method (Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale) is proposed. The results of testing techniques in the process of questioning employees of a number Tomsk enterprise are described. The problem of the relationship between the company's actual age and the stage of its life cycle is analyzed.
