On Love-type surface waves in homogeneous micropolar elastic media

Propagation of Love-type waves in homogeneous micropolar isotropic elastic media consisting of a layer of finite thickness lying over a semi-infinite medium has been considered in this paper. Frequency equation has been obtained when either the layer or the half-space or the both are micropolar. Unlike Rayleigh waves in micropolar medium, a new type of surface waves, which is not encountered in classical elasticity, is found to exist in all these cases. Dispersion curves of this new type of waves have also been obtained.
