A new species of Meligethes (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) from South Africa

The author of the present paper since 1988 has been engaged in a revision of the South African and Nami­ bian species of the pollen-beetle genus Meligethes Stephens, 1830, which includes in this area probably more than 140 (mostly undescribed) species. The present note (a preliminary contribution towards the above mentioned project) is based on material belong­ ing to a new and very interesting species recently collected in South Africa by the writer, by R. Daniels­ son (Lund), and by S. Endrödy-Younga (Pretoria).
