Principles of good laboratory practice (GLP) for in vitro cell culture applications

Abstract: Good laboratory practice (GLP) is recommended in all leading laboratories as a framework of principles for performing cell culture studies. It provides guidelines for monitoring test systems, recording data, report writing and data archiving. GLP therefore assures regulatory authorities that any data submitted are indeed a true reflection of the results obtained during the study. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) should be in place containing comprehensive coverage of all critical phases of the study design, including management, monitoring and reporting. This chapter reviews the principles of GLP for application to in vitro culturing of cells.
