Microcomputers in behavioral assessment: Recent advances and remaining issues

Abstract The development and dissemination of microcomputer technology has the potential to make a significant impact on the nature and practice of behavioral assessment. Actual and potential applications of microcomputer technology in behavioral assessment are reviewed, including interview assessment, traditional methods in behavioral assessment, self-monitoring, psychophysiological methods, and direct observation programs. Effective development and use of microcomputers in behavioral assessment depend on conceptual and empirical advances in standardization, integration of assessment data, and resolution of important concerns.
