El maltrato animal como violencia doméstica y de género. Un análisis sobre las víctimas

A review of the possible links between gender, domestic violence and animal abuse involves analyzing three questions. One of them is how animal abuse can be a psychological, and an effective mechanism of domination and control of women and children. In addition, it is considered that violence against animals is a reliable indicator of the existence of other possible forms of interpersonal violence. Finally, it is important to consider the effects on children witnessing violence against animals. This requires a deep reflection on who we consider victims of gender and domestic violence and on which are the needs of the victims of such violence that we should consider. Both discussions will enable us to better protect women and improve the welfare of animals.
