Battery management system and battery management method

PURPOSE: A battery management system and a battery management method are provided to prevent the discharge of a battery cell by determining the malfunction of a battery cell balancing switch. CONSTITUTION: A battery management system(200) includes a discharge prevention switch(210), a balancing switch(220), a voltage sensing unit(230), a determining unit(240), and a control unit(250). The discharge prevention switch is installed at a sensing line and both ends of the cell included in a battery. The balancing switch controls the balancing of the cell connected to the sensing line. The power sensing unit measures the power of the cell. The determining unit determines the malfunction of the balancing switch based on the voltage of the cell measured by the voltage sensing unit. The control unit controls the discharge prevention switch based on a determination result of the determining unit.
