The present study investigated the effects of the design parameters on the performance of the scroll compressors using R-134a through performing numerical analysis for PMP scroll wrap by using the equation of state for semi-real gases. The design parameters are center thickness and height of scroll and the size of discharge port. Fourth-order Runge-Kutta method was applied for the numerical performance analysis of automotive scroll compressor to solve thermodynamic equations, leaking rate equation and the equation of motion of discharge valve for semi-real gases. The value of design parameters were based on the specifications of 150 cc commercial automotive scroll compressor. The height of scroll mostly affects on the performance of the scroll compressor among all parameters.
