USABILITY COMPARISON: SIMILARITY AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN E-COMMERCE AND WORLD WIDE WEB

ABSTRACT This paper begins with a brief literature review of current usability studies in WWW and E-commerce. Based on the literature and task analysis results, we compared WWW usability and E-commerce usability in terms of measurable criteria. Eight common usability criteria were identified for both applications: differentiability, learnability, navigation assistance, compatibility, task flexibility, sensory and perceptual capability, feedback, and satisfaction. Besides these eight common criteria, E-commerce usability has another two unique aspects: security and supportability.
