Prioritizing and quantifying the risk of outstanding corrective actions

Abstract This paper presents methods for assessing the risk of outstanding corrective actions, and describes how the methods were applied at a nuclear power station. The methods are motivated by a current industry focus on risk-informed operation and a current NRC focus on risk-informed regulation. Application of the methods provides: (1) a risk-informed basis for establishing schedules and allocating resources to implement corrective actions; (2) a risk-informed basis for justifying continued operation until corrective actions are implemented.
