A paper in this category reports significant system development, experimental results or presentations of many techniques in an unified manner. For example, this may include a paper which reports the worthy findings of replicating another’s experimental results or comparing the performance of various existing methods which will be included in this category. Another example is a complete description of doing a substantial computer vision task, and doing it well. As a general guideline, the paper to be published in the journal should summarize methods and results, and typically a technical report is included among the references providing detailed descriptions of experimental procedures. In principle, the data, and possibly the programs, are made available to the readers. The criteria for publishing such papers will be whether they will contribute to the vision field by the exchange of system developments, methods, and experimental results between vision researchers at a far more detailed level than at present. This long-awaited practice will move computer vision into a more rigorous discipline of science and engineering.
