Fault Current Analysis Considering Frequency Response of Feeding Circuits

Although there are many studies of steady-state analysis of railway feeding circuits, more transient analysis of feeding circuits that takes into account frequency response is needed. This paper proposes a transient analysis simulation model of overhead lines and rails with approximated frequency response. The model is designed to be applicable to all types of feeding circuits, suited to frequencies ranging from direct current to several kilohertz, and independent of the simulator’s specific functions. The results of transient analysis on a simplified direct current feeding circuit indicate that transient analysis can be performed with greater precision that previously thought. The findings from this study can be used in the development of protection relay systems and measurement systems.
