PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve such as the quality factor of the sending coil of a magnet resonance imaging system by reducing the RF sending powder demand by placing on RF shield made of a conductive material on a support member between the support member and an RF sending coil encountering each other within the imaging area. SOLUTION: A post support MRI system 10 includes posts 1 to 4, an upper pole piece 24, an upper gradient magnetic field coil assembly, a lower pole piece 26 and a lower gradient magnetic field coil assembly. The posts 1 to 4 (four posts) and the pole piece 24, 26 regulates the imaging area 25 where a subject is inserted. Moreover, on the MRI process, the RF sending coil 12 is set to shift phase by rotating the atomic nucleus of the subject to the magnetic field generated by static magnetic field magnets 20, 22. A part of the posts 2, 4 and a part of the pole pieces 24, 26 can be shielded by an aluminum foil seat 50. COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
