For recent years,the filling gallery with shaft gate-valve is widely applied in newly built largescale dock.By combining with one model experiment on the filling gallery with shaft gate-valve to dock,FLUENT software is used to carry out 3D numerical simulation on the gallery's hydraulic characteristics in order to study the distribution rules for velocity of flow,intensity of pressure,turbulent kinetic energy,dissipation rate and other parameters,and the security of the filling gallery.By analyzing the turbulence parameter of energy dissipating section,flow kinetic energy is dissipated due to the swirl in inlet well and the flow impaction on wall.The numerically simulated flow pressures within the gallery under different water levels correspond closely to the model test results,which verifies further the reliability of numerical simulation calculation as well as the feasibility to assist and optimize the design of filling gallery by numerical simulation.
