Chromosomal aberrations in lead-exposed workers.

Chromosomal aberrations were studied in peripheral lymphocytes of 29 workers with a relatively pure lead exposure, and in 9 controls. No statistically significant increase in the frequency of chromosomal aberrations was found among the workers. The contradictory findings in different studies of chromosomal aberrations after lead exposure were discussed and it was concluded that the positive results so far may be accounted for by simultaneous exposure to other toxic agents.
