Empirical analysis for public transit networks in Chinese cities

To make a better planning, design and evaluation for the public transport systems,it is necessary to make more profound studies for the structure of urban transit networks. The authors have analyzed statistical parameters including path-length,clustering coefficient and degree distribution of public transport networks in 5 Chinese cities. The structures of these networks approximate to random graphs, which does not exhibit the scale-free property as other countries.Through the analysis about the practical interpretation of those statistical parameters, the authors proposed some possible reasons to generate the structural differences between Chinese and other countries.
