Proportional bandwidth properties of fault indicating tones in a ball bearing system

The proportional bandwidth properties of bearing generated tones are explored in a condition based maintenance context. A comparison, between time-frequency and time-scale (wavelet) detection techniques is performed using data gathered from an experimental set up. The wavelet techniques exhibit a 2 to 3 dB gain, depending on the harmonic number being detected.<<ETX>>
