An Efficient Algorithm for Near-field Source Localization

In this paper, a method for near-field localization based on the minimum redundant symmetric array and high-order cumulant is proposed, which constructs a fourth-order cumulant matrix related only to the azimuth angle to estimate the direction-of arrival (DOA) by the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm. Then the range of sources is performed with the estimated DOA through finite one-dimensional searching. The algorithm expands the array aperture and enhances degrees of freedom, therefore it can increase the estimation accuracy, resolution and the number of sources. In addition, the algorithm transforms two-dimensional search to the one-dimensional search. The simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
