The use of textiles as reinforcement in concrete is a recent and innovative development. Because of certain advantages of textile-reinforced concrete in comparison with conventional composite building materials, the use of elements formed with textiles has a potentially bright future. This article provides an overview of the subject, discussing the experience and knowledge already acquired on these new materials, while pointing out the need for further research in this field.
