Q-SWITCHED INDUCED BY ALUMINIUM (III) OXIDE IN ERBIUM-DOPED FIBER LASERS

This paper demonstrated Q-switched and mode-locked Erbium-doped fiber lasers (EDFL) utilizing Aluminum oxide (Al2O3), which is embedded into a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film as saturable absorber (SA). By incorporating the SA in an EDFL with 13.5m cavity length, the laser generates stable Q-switching pulses that can be tuned from 51.76 kHz to 70.22 kHz. It operated at 1560 nm wavelength with excellent stability. The Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum showed the original Signal-Noise–to-Ratio (SNR) of about 64 dB. The maximum pulse energy of 0.027 μJ and the lowest pulse width of 5.51μs were obtained at a pump power of 116.8 mW.
