The surgical treatment of peptic ulcer.

SO MUCH has been said and written on the subject of peptic ulcer that one could not unreasonably ask why we are presenting a discussion of the subject to this audience. Our reasons for doing so are based on the fact that the clinic, because of its interest in this subject, has had to deal with such a large number (16,000) of cases of peptic ulcer, in which some 1600 partial gastrectomies have been performed (Table 1). In discussing numbers we are aware that the mention of numbers of cases may be construed as vanity. Such is not the case . . .
