Novel medium of broadband PPECM: aqueous foam

Fourier-transform-infrared(FTIR) and millimeter wave(MMW) are applied to study the ele-ctromagnetic waves attenuation by the aqueous foams. Low transmission was found at 3~5 μm, 8~14 μm and 8 mm, and 75% extinction coefficient of 3~5 μm is above 1.0 m2·g-1 and that of 8~14 μm is above 0.6 m2·g-1. And average of small radar cross section(RCS) is 0.302 9 m2. It is figured out that special foam structure besides the species and its consistency play main pole of the nice attenuation. And the further performances virtues of water-solubility, adjustability, nice rheology and inexpensive make us believe that foam is a novel nice potential medium of broadband PPECM.
