Study of Variable Blank Holder Force Control Forming on Deep-drawing Process of Conical Parts

The predominant failure modes in stamping of sheet metal parts are wrinkling and fracture. In general, these defects may be eliminated by appropriate manipulated the blank holder forces. In this paper, the numerical simulation of variable blank bolder force control forming techniques have been carried out by the aid of the Finite Element Method software DYNAFORM, and the best optimum load curve of blank holder force when deep drawing a conical parts has been obtained. This paper also validates the simulation results by tests. It is showed that the limit drawing height could be greatly improved, as a variable BHF deep-drawing process was adapted.
