In this paper, we proposed a new simple detection algorithm for classification of ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF). The proposed method is based on the intracardiac electrogram (EGM) signal and has been designed for implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). We evaluated the algorithm using the Ann Arbor Electrogram Libraries Database (AAEL) and compared the result with that of other published detectors. The proposed algorithm showed a average sensitivity of 94.5%, a average specificity of 97.5, a average positive predictive value (PPV) of 92.2%, and a average negative predictive value (NPV) of 96.8% respectively. It showed better performance than other published methods and could be implemented real time easily as relatively fast computation time and simple structure.
